Having doubled pawns on the queenside can also be something good, as it can enhance your control of the centre, and give your bishop another angle to develop from. Opening up the diagonal leading to the king is often beneficial, as it can serve as 'bait' for your opponent's pieces (especially their queen and knight) to foolishly rush in to win material, while you prepare a vicious counterattack!Ģ. ![]() except for in exchange for not having opened up the diagonal leading to the king, you have doubled pawns on the queenside.ġ. it seems to me to be a bit like the exciting Fraser Variation in the Latvian Gambit: Actually, contrary to popular belief, this gambit IS playable for White, and is quite an interesting idea. ![]()
